A place to sit

I was bored one day last week and found a chair plan in Ready Made magazine. Because the chair is made mostly with 2x4's I knew I needed to make it to see how I like it. The reason for that thinking is because 2x4's are much, much cheaper than 1x4's.

I was able to build the chair within 15 minutes of printing out the plans. (I used scraps I had leftover from other projects) Please note: the plans aren't the easiest to follow.

I don't think I'm able to guage whether or not I like it yet. It looks nice unfinished and it's a good, sturdy, and surprisingly comfy chair to sit on. I haven't painted the chair yet because I've been busy with other things but I plan to sand and paint it this weekend. Perhaps a nice chocolate brown or a bright white?

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Done and over with

Our rummage sale is finally over with! I'm glad to have it in the past because it was a cold, windy and rainy weekend!
I'd like to share a new find called Groupon. It's a website where you can buy certificates for great local deals at a fraction of the price. I just bought from them for my first time today by getting some $10 certificates to Senor Wiener here in Sioux Falls for only $5! I've never been to Senor Wiener so I'm excited to be able to try it for my first time at a great discount! Many major cities can be found on Groupon so go check it out!

Speaking of food, the family and I are going out to eat at La Fiesta tonight to celebrate Mother's Day. La Fiesta is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants.

Well... gotta go so I won't be late! Happy Mother's Day ladies!

Disaster Area

My garage should be zoned off as dangerous right now. It's packed full of stuff for the rummage sale next weekend and I'm pretty sure a tornado was lurking around in there while I was sleeping. Unfortunately, I will not be building anything until the rummage is done and over with.

On a good note, I got my Mother's day present a week early! It's not the brand I'd prefer but it does everything I wanted, it has pretty good reviews on Sears.com and it was within my hubby's price range--therefore, it was a perfect gift!

It's much larger than the one I currently have and doesn't quite fit on my workbench. Sooooo, guess what I will be doing after the rummage is all over with? I will be making another bench wide enough to cater to my new toy! I think I will put my old miter saw on the rummage for $30/obo and see if I can make $10 on it.

Anyways, it's a beautiful day out today so I'm going to go outside and enjoy it because tomorrow is Monday and I have to go back to work :-( Have a great Sunday!
